While the wife is in the kitchen or running around picking up after the kids the husband finds his refuge. We’ve heard it all before:
- He’s playing golf
- He’s out in the garage
- He’s in the barn
- He’s at the bar
- He’s off fishing
- He’s out hunting
The argument could be… Why are they out playing while we’re in here working? Where is my refuge?
But they are not playing…
- They are amongst colleagues or friends expanding their business connections.
- They are fixing or helping someone fix this or that.
- They are hunting and gathering; what the Lord put them on this earth to do.
What is our problem? Sure, not every outing is going to reap a reward. But occasionally they bring home a fish, deer, extra cash from that fixing job, or a new client.
They are weathering the elements while we are comfortably in our homes. Is it fair that we complain about their never-ending work, while we stay at home? So what if they happen to manage their tasks in comfort?
Where is your man?
